Navigators spread the Good News of Jesus Christ through Life-to-Life relationships, by investing in disciples who make disciples, and equipping others to make a worldwide impact for God's glory.
Our aim is to not only reach people for Christ, but to equip them so that they, in turn, can help fulfill Christ's commission to "go and make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:19).
The Navigators ministry began in the 1930s, when Dawson Trotman caught a vision. After seeing the benefits of discipleship principles in his own life, the young lumberyard worker wanted to teach them to others, echoing the call of 2 Timothy:
And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.
— 2 Timothy 2:2 (NIV)
Dawson began teaching these principles to high school students and in local Sunday school classes, and later to sailors in the U.S. Navy.
By the end of World War II, thousands of men on ships and bases around the world were learning the principles of spiritual multiplication by the person-to-person teaching of God’s Word.
Today, Navigators minister in workplaces, churches, diverse urban neighborhoods, on college campuses and military bases, and in more than 100 countries around the world — wherever there are people who need Christ.
“I think [Dawson Trotman] has personally touched more lives than anybody I have ever known.”
— Billy Graham
Years in Ministry
Today, millions of people around the world do not yet know Christ, or desire to deepen their relationship with Him. We must mobilize and equip more Navigators to share the transforming power of the Gospel through Life-to-Life discipleship.
And we need your help to raise up more lifelong laborers. Men and women who devote their time and energy to fulfilling the Great Commission.
